CitizenGulf NYC: National Day of Action
August 25, 2010
Five years ago on August 28th New Orleans was completely ravaged by
Hurricane Katrina. Now thanks to BP’s oilspill, the Gulf is reeling on
its heels again. No community has been hit harder than the fishing
families of the affected Gulf region. They will be left to fend for
their own once BP moves on, creating what will likely be our modern Dust
Bowl.
By attending this #citizengulf meet-up you make a step towards actionable chang...e.
If you are in New York City on August 25th, please attend the East
Village even folks like Damien Basile, Anna Curran, Nicole D'Alonzo,
Erica Grigg, Geoff Livingston, Richard Laermer, and Greg Verdino. Our
special guest speaker is Erik Proulx, the executive producer of Lemonade, the movie.
New York's event will be hosted at the Village Pourhouse from 5-9 p.m. From 5-7, VIllage Pourhouse is offering these specials: $2 Bud Light, and 2 for 1 Vision cocktails, 901 Tequila Margueritas, Abita Beer, and of course, Huricanes. There will also be New Orleans themed music and a guest speaker.
The benefit — promoted
by Gulf Coast Benefit — funds Catholic Charities of New Orleans. They
have created a means for you to help the children of fishing families
with better education resources via the After School Assembly program.
This is so they can find a new way of life if they choose to do so. All
money sans credit card transactions goes directly to this program.

In alignment with the week of the fifth anniversary of Katrina, CitizenGulf's National Day of Action — promoted by Gulf Coast Benefit
— seeks to help fishing families affected by the BP oil spill find a
new, more sustainable future by providing education resources for their
children.
All proceeds from the August 25th events will be
donated to a special #CitizenGulf fund managed by Citizen Effect and
Catholic Charities of New Orleans. Citizen Effect is
a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers anyone to become a
philanthropist and make a direct impact on a community in need.
